We need real action on Olympia Traffic

Many residents have raised concerns about the traffic congestion in and around Olympia as a result of the increased show traffic since the closure of Earls Court last year.

This is particularly acute at show set-up and break-down times. Working alongside residents, Olympia has been doing its best to help manage the problems, lifting a number of the Traffic Orders they use, and adding resources to their Traffic Management Team.

However, the response of Transport for London (TfL) - who is responsible for Hammersmith Road - has been disappointing.  It has refused requests to suspend the bus lane at the top of Hammersmith Road at peak show times to aid traffic flow.

Many local residents will be well aware of the frustration of sitting in traffic jams up to Earls Court Road because of the congestion.  These jams add to the congestion in our small residential streets up to Brook Green and down North End Road.  Frustratingly, these queues would be avoidable with proper traffic management and local Conservatives will continue to press TfL to take a more pro-active approach.
